Celebrate Mother's Day - Organic

Mother’s Day is coming up on May 10th. Are you looking for ideas on how to celebrate this special day? Here are some fun, creative ideas that will make your Mom or any other Mom in your life, feel special and make her day simply knowing that her gift is environmentally friendly. 

Organic Flowers and Plants

Yes the traditional flowers as a gift for Mothers day. Flowers remain one of the most popular Mother’s Day gifts. Flowers are the perfect gift for the eco-friendly mom — there’s nothing greener than giving something green, and they’re the perfect gift for the woman who has everything, as there are very few things more beautiful and luxurious than an arrangement of freshly cut flowers. You could buy organic flowers online or in any of your local farmers market or organic grocers. Some sellers offer a special eco certification on their flowers.

Personalized gift basket

Assemble together some organic skin care products, some bath salts, some handmade soaps, some organic chocolates, some delicous organic green tea, some organic jams. Put them all nicely in a bamboo or straw basket with a pretty bow and make your Mom her personalized unique gift. Dont forget to add a eco-friendly card with to it. 

Organic wine

Trader joe's and Whole foods markets have some good organic wines. Trader Joe's offers extreamly reasonable prices on their wines and great quality. Even your local wine stores may carry a couple of organic wines and you may also find some good wines online if you want to ship your mom a bottle. Read up on the benefits of red wine. 

Plant her a garden

Buy Mom some fresh plants (flowers, herbs, vegetables, or even ornamentals) to grow and help her plant a garden. For those Moms that live in apartments you could still get her herbs or some other flowering shrubs which your local nursery could help pick out. Dont forget to buy some good organic potting soil and garden tools and you will be set for an interesting fun mothers day activity. For those moms who are new to gardening or do not have enough time on their hands  pick plants which need low maintenance with the help of your local nursery. 

For the Internet Savvy Mom

If you mom is always on the internet either surfing or working, try getting her a subscription to a digital magazine or e-newspaper that she would like! Try Zinio an online publishing company that offers some great magazine choices with no paper waste. 

An Organic Lunch

You could go to an organic  restaurant with local harvest and give your Mom a special treat. A nice luncheon at an organic store like WholeFoods with some organic box of truffles could also be a perfect mothers day gift. If that doesnt work for you how about making her some delicious lunch or dinner using fresh organic produce.
