If you are suffering from menopause and are experiencing symptoms like hot flashes, irritability mood swings try this recipe made with beet juice and carrots to help regulate hormones. Yam provides the hormone progesterone which helps replace hormones lost when menopause occurs.
This is a recipe from the book Miracle Juicing which is available at our Juicing shack store.
Ingredients:
6 oz carrots
2 oz beets
6 oz yams or sweet potato
4 oz fennel
Preparation:
Wash all the ingredients well. (If you are not using organic vegetables peel the skin off). Chop the yams and the beets. Juice all the ingredients together. Mix well and serve in a tall glass with ice cubes. Decorate with fennel fond if desired.
Points to note:
Never use more than 1/4 medium sized (2 oz) beet in any 1 glass of juice. Excessive use of beets could cause hives or even give chills or a fever. (Never drink beet juice by itself either).
Also remember maintaining a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle with exercise helps reduce such symptoms.
See Your Doctor When...
- Your hot flashes are so severe or frequent that they result in fatigue, depression or mood swings or interrupt your sleep.
- You are on hormone replacement therapy and your bleeding is not on the cycle your doctor told you to expect.
- You experience bleeding after your menstrual cycle has ceased for six months or longer.
