A Case for Water

A case for water
Imagine life without water, it simply would not exist ! Water has always been the most precious commodity of the world ! It is the fundamentally important and a building block of the human body. Two thirds of a person's body weight is water. A human can live without food for almost 40 days but less than five days without water. Important fluids of the body like blood, saliva, and other gland secretions need abundant water to have optimal performance. Arthritis patients certainly require extra water to keep joints well lubricated. Degenerative discs are caused because of lack of lubricating fluids. Abundant water intake is known to improved blood pressure, cholesterol levels, obesity, diabetes, asthma, gastrointestinal problems, hiatus hernias, headaches, angina, allergies and constipation. Plenty of water intake prevents kidney stones and even slow aging process. In general people who drink abundant water find that they have increased energy levels and are healthy from the cellular level.

How much water do we need to drink ?
As a general guidance, figure out your body weight in pounds and divide this number by two. Drink that many ounces of water a day. Approximately one glass equals eight ounces. (Refer the conversion table below for more accurate measure)

Drinking Guidelines
Drink two glasses of water the first thing in the morning. Then have one glass thirty minutes before lunch and dinner and another glass one hour after the meals. Besides this keep replenishing your body with water all through the day. This should easily have you having eight glasses of water in a day. During meals limit your water intake to not more than half a glass of water. Try to avoid water intake just before your bedtime because it could tend to interfere with sound sleep

Final thoughts
Processed foods contain a tremendous amount of salt. The more salt you eat, the more water your system needs to get rid of it. But getting rid of unneeded salt is easy - have less of it and just drink more water! Try and avoid processed food with preservatives and salts even if you are not doing water therapy. The best things in life are free, water is among one of them !

I always found it hard and uncomfortable to keep up drinking water in the mornings. I would start and then give up. Now this time I am more consistent.

I figured out that if you squeeze a lemon, add a pinch of baking soda and a pinch of rock salt, it's much easier to drink a full glass. Great way to replenish your thirst in the morning. Do it as soon as you wake up so you get like an hour before you start your breakfast or coffee. It's easier, fun and healthy and I feel a lot more energetic during the day.
