How to Juice a Lemon

Lemon juice can be used in a multitude of juices. It can help to keep apple juice from turning brown. It can be used to enhance the flavor of vegetable juices. It can be used to make some awesome easy fresh lime lemonade. It can be added to beverages like water, soda and mixed drinks. And it can add some vitamin C to your diet. If you need the juice from a whole lemon, there are a few tricks to make it easier.
Before Cutting:
Roll the lemon on the countertop before slicing to break down some of the fibers so that the juice will flow more freely when you cut it.
To make it really easy to sqeeze and get the juices flowing zap the lemon in the microwave for 10 seconds.
Plain and Simple use your hands:
Cut the lemon in half, and then cup one hand under the lemon and squeeze the lemon with the other hand. The cupped hand is to catch the seeds. Squeze it over a bowl to collect the juice. This could get a little messy and may not get you the best juice.
Easy Lemon Juice press:
What we find is the most suitable is an easy lemon press juicer. You cut the lemon in half and press it down on the raised bit. The juice collects in the base. You can pick up a juicer for less than $10 at any kitchen store.

A Reamer:
Or there is the “reamer”, which is made for juicing most citrus fruit. It’s generally made of wood or steel and it costs around 10$ as well. You cut the lemon in half and press the reamer into the cut side. Then twist and press the reamer at the same time. Then pour the juice into a small strainer to capture the seeds.
Silicone lemon squeezer:This silicone lemon squeezer is from sur le table. It costs under 7$ and it does a great job of seperating the seeds from the juice.

An electric citrus juicer
A juicer like this cuisineart citrus juicer works very well for oranges and grapefruits and though it does a good job of squeezing juice from even the tiniest lime, use it only if you have large quantities to juice.

A simple lemon squeezer:
You get these in either stainless steel or plastic. they work well for lemons and most come with an attachment to juice an orange or even a grapefruit.

What do we use to juice a lemon?
Our pick is most certainly the Easy lemon juice press. Its easy to use and clean, costs less and strains the seeds as well. Of course for larger quantities or larger citrus fruits go with a electrical juicer like the cuisine art one.
How about lemon juice in a bottle?
They do sell concentrated lemon juice in a bottle. You can also buy it in those little plastic lemons with the green top. We don’t recommend them. We haven't found a brand that tastes like the real thing, if anyone does let us know.
Happy Juicing!
